Friday 26th February: Orange Day - Go Orange for Indie Day!

Q. Which four of the five lifeboat stations within this area are Independent?
A. Mundesley, Sea Palling, Hemsby & Caister

For one day only the Independent Lifeboat Crews of the United Kingdom will be joining forces on Friday 26th February to raise awareness for the Lifeboat stations that operate outside the auspices of the RNLI.

We will never be as large as the RNLI, but our services in the areas we operate are just as crucial and with rising costs every year it is more important now than ever for our local communities to realise just who we are.

So please for one day only join us as we unite and help raise funds for all these volunteer run lifeboat stations throughout the United Kingdom.

Remember the RNLI are “NOT the only charity that save lives at sea”

Tuesday 22nd September: Visit to Ludham Old Rectory Nursing Home

Members of the committee and crew visited the Old Rectory Nursing Home in Ludham, to wish Miss Ruby Nudd a happy 90th Birthday; Ruby had spent here entire life living in Sea Palling until a few years ago when she moved to her present home in Ludham.

The thing about Ruby that not many people will know is she has been involved in and a round the lifeboats at Sea Palling all her life, Her Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather where all members of the Sea Palling Boat, with many years of service to their credit, her Grandfather had over thirty years service, before the station was closed by the RNLI on the 29th October 1930.

We presented Ruby with a bouquet of flowers and a picture of the present lifeboat, “Lions’ Roar” (Picture to follow) before joining Ruby and the other residents for a very enjoyable afternoon tea. We would like to record our thanks to the manager of the home, Karen Bean for her help in arranging this surprise.
