Our Independent Lifeboat operates from Sea Palling on the North Norfolk Coast.

In 1974 the residents of Sea Palling felt the need for a lifeboat of their own and raised the money to build a new station buy an inshore rescue boat named Hearts of Oak. A private company Palling Volunteer Rescue Service Ltd was formed as a registered charity to operate the independent lifeboat service.In 1981 a new rigid inflatable boat named Leo was purchased and was replaced in 2008 by Lions Roar. In 2012 the current boat Lionheart came into service.

Lionheart is a 5.7metre Humber Ocean Pro RIB, powered by a 90hp 2 stroke Mariner engineallowing a top speed of 34 knots. Lionheart is equiped with two VHS radios complete with MMSI number and the latest second generation GPS,complete with AIS overlay and transponder. On service May 2012 -

Our boat is equipped with modern search and rescue equipment which includes a G.P.S. with chart plotter, 2 V.H.F. Marine radios and vital life saving equipment inc. first aid equipment and Oxygen administration which we have recently been trained and certificated for.

Crewed by volunteers who receive no payments, we are on call 24/7 and are a declared facility who answer directly to the M.C.A (H.M. Coastguard), via a paging system.
